VideoMate allows you to send SMS text messages to your customers. This feature can be used to announce
special offers, to remind customers that they have videos which are late for return, and to send a
birthday message to customers.
Before using SMS text messaging, you must first set up an account with an SMS gateway. VideoMate
is currently set up to interface with four gateways. These are:
- Connection software, a UK based gateway with
worldwide coverage (check their Website to see if your country is covered).
- messagemedia, based in Australia.
- Clickatell, based in South Africa.
- eTXT, based in New Zealand.
The SMS messaging function in VideoMate creates an email which is sent by your email client
(Outlook Express, Eudora, etc) to the SMS gateway, from where
it is distributed as SMS messages to the recipients specified in the email.
